Dr. Gary Wheeler, President of Glen Oaks Community College, has been appointed to the Board of Directors of the St. Joseph County Economic Development Corporation.
The appointment was one of five approved by the St. Joseph County Board of Commissioners on Tuesday (June 3rd).
Wheeler succeeds Dennis McCarthy, the college’s Dean of Students and Community Services, who resigned from the EDC board recently after many years of service to the economic development group. McCarthy’s resignation was accepted, with regret, by the EDC board during its May 28th meeting, a session that also included action to nominate Wheeler to fill the vacated Glen Oaks seat. Wheeler’s term on the EDC board expires on June 1, 2014.
County commissioners also appointed Lorrie Witt, Polly Oliver, Darlene Tate and Charlie Willer to two-year terms on the St. Joseph County Commission on Aging through June 30, 2010.
