Three Rivers Health is offering American Heart Association (AHA) classes during August in CPR, Heartsaver First Aid, and Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers.
Brain death starts to occur four to six minutes after someone experiences cardiac arrest if no CPR and defibrillation occur during that time. About 95% of sudden cardiac arrest victims die before reaching the hospital. But effective bystander CPR, provided immediately after cardiac arrest, can double a victim’s chance of survival. Save a life – learn CPR.
CPR is offered on August 9 from 8 a.m. to 12 noon. This course teaches CPR and relief of choking in adults and children, and infant CPR and relief of choking, and use of barrier devices for all ages.
Heartsaver First Aid is offered on August 9 from 12 noon to 4 p.m. This course teaches how to manage illness and injuries in the first few minutes until professional help arrives.
BLS for Healthcare Providers is offered on August 18 from 8 a.m. to 12 noon or August 28 from 6 to 10 a.m. This course covers core material such as adult and pediatric CPR, foreign-body airway obstruction, and automated external defibrillation.
Both CPR and Heartsaver First Aid are required to be a licensed daycare provider.
Each of the above is a four-hour class and the cost is $45. Cost for CPR and Heartsaver First Aid combined (8 hours) is $55. These classes will be offered each month. For more information and to register, call Mary Ann at (269) 273-9742.
