Monday (October 6th) marks the start of the final brush pickup of the year in the City of Sturgis.
Crews will start at the north end of the city and work their way south. It may take several days to reach your area. If you have brush to be hauled away, please neatly stack it in the terrace area away from trees or signs by 7 a.m. the day of pick-up. Note that it is unlawful to place brush beyond the curb in the street.
This monthly pick-up is for BRUSH ONLY. DPS will not be collecting grass clippings, leaves, roots, thorn-bearing branches, tree trunks, stumps or building materials. If you would like info on where the crews are please call the Public Services Department at (269) 651-2879.
If you have brush you need to dispose of after the final pickup is complete, the City’s compost site on East Fawn River Road is open 3 days per week; Monday, Thursday, and Saturday. Fall hours of operation are now in effect and will last through the remainder of the season; the Compost Site will close for the season at 6:00 pm on Monday, November 24th. Fall hours are Monday and Thursday from noon to 6:00 p.m. and Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. For those of you who have the means to transport materials, the compost site does accept brush, grass clippings, wood chips and leaves. Composted material is available at the site for your use.
If you have any questions concerning brush pick up or the compost site please call the City DPS Building at (269) 651-2879.
