The St. Joseph County Board of Commissioners has ratified a guaranty for a $2.7-million loan secured by Community Mental Health (CMH) Services of St. Joseph County to construct a new CMH building in Centreville.
The action on Monday (November 3rd) came on a 6-to-1 vote with Commissioner Mike Dunlap of Three Rivers voting “no.”
The loan is from Farmers State Bank in LaGrange, Indiana at an interest rate of 5.27 percent over a period of 25 years.
The building will be constructed on a site on East Main Street following demolition of the structure now in place there.
In other business, commissioners approved a new lease agreement with 911/Central Dispatch for the quarters it occupies at 620 East Main Street in Centreville. The agreement is for a five-year period beginning January 1, 2009 and calls for an annual land lease payment of $788 payable in January of each year.
Commissioners also approved an independent contractor agreement with Debra Steinman of Three Rivers to serve as an interpreter. Under terms of the agreement, Steinman will act as an interpreter in Juvenile/Probate Court hearings for Spanish speaking youth and/or family. She will also be an “occasional transporter” for families without transportation. Her compensation will be $25 per hour with reimbursement for eligible transportation miles at county or state rates.
