Saturday (June 20th) in Three Rivers will provide a variety of activities during the third and final day of the 53rd annual Three Rivers Water Festival.

Steve Yorks, director of the St. Joseph County Transportation Authority (SJCTA), handed out "My Ride" pencils as he traveled the Water Festival parade route Friday night with the SJCTA entry.

It will also offer an opportunity for FREE RIDES on the “Circle Line” operated by the St. Joseph County Transportation Authority (SJCTA).  The rides normally cost “a dollar per destination.”

According to Steve Yorks, the purpose of Saturday’s “Free Ride Day” is to give folks in Three Rivers a chance to ride at no charge, “experience how the route works, and get familiar with that to maybe encourage them to use it on occasion to get around town.”

The free rides will be available on Saturday from 7 a.m. until 5 p.m., which are the usual weekday hours for the Circle Line in Three Rivers.

A similar promotion will be offered next Saturday, June 27th, on the Circle Line in Sturgis.

The Circle Line in Three Rivers began operating in December 2008.  When asked how the service is going, Yorks said, “Pretty good.  The use actually went up pretty rapidly for awhile and kind of leveled off and it’s stayed there,  but it’s holding its own, it’s holding steady.”

For further information about the SJCTA, call the local number – (269) 273-7808 – or the toll-free number which is 1-800-964-5700.
