Earth Day observance planned at Glen Oaks Community College

CENTREVILLE – The Science Club at Glen Oaks Community College will plant a tree near the college’s main entrance at 11:50 a.m., Thursday (April 22nd) in observance of Earth Day.

This event, held just before an Earth Day Run/Walk for students, staff and the public, is sponsored by the new Science Club led by President Jennifer Sprague, Vice President Maykol Hernandez, and Secretary Kevin Mullen. Advisors for the fledgling club are Science instructors Sarah Simmons and Jeff Hucko.

Glen Oaks Community College Board member David Locey donated and will help plant the tree. Mr. Locey is owner of Timberly Tree Farm, Sturgis. Other sponsors for the tree planting include: De Glass Station, Inc., Faith Haven Senior Care Centre, Nottawa Lumber, CSP Nottawa, and Nelson D. Yoder LLC.
