“Collaboration” is a concept that seems to have gained momentum in recent years – and rightfully so. With resources increasingly stretched, the idea of “working together” to more effectively use those resources makes good sense.
“Win/win” is another idea we’ve heard in recent years, thanks, in part, to Stephen Covey and his The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People.
“Collaboration” and “win/win” seem to correlate well and – as we look toward the start of a New Year – I would hope we’ll see more of both in 2011.
There’s an excellent example of “collaboration” and “win/win” in a recent message from Kirstin Vander Giessen-Reitsma, Co-Founder and Board President of World Fare, the non-profit “fair trade” store in downtown Three Rivers. It reports on an upcoming promotion that pairs World Fare with its ‘next door neighbor,’ Love Your Mother: Earth Friendly Goods. The afore-mentioned message from Kirstin – reproduced below – illustrates the points about “collaboration” and “win-win.” It also gives you the particulars about the promotion in case you’d like to participate in this joint effort AND accomplish some of your Christmas shopping in the process!
