(Cassopolis, MI) – A late afternoon fire Monday (August 8th) at Midwest Energy Cooperative’s White Pigeon Substation has taken out electric service for about 1200 members in White Pigeon and Constantine. The fire has been contained, but the substation is severely damaged. The cause of the fire is unknown at this time, and cooperative officials are on site and prepared to work with investigators to determine the source of the devastating blaze.
Crews are working now to backfeed service and anticipate having power restored this evening.
