Three Rivers Fire Department

Two probationary firefighters with the Three Rivers Fire Department were recognized during Tuesday’s (October 18th) meeting of the Three Rivers City Commission.

Fire Chief Dan Tomlinson introduced the firefighters – Travis McGahan and Steven Westcomb – and noted that both successfully completed the Fire Academy recently.

Here’s the text of Tomlinson’s remarks about each firefighter:

Travis McGhan:

Three Rivers Fire Department Chaplain Bob Anderson did the pinning for Travis McGahan.

Travis McGahan lives in the City of Three Rivers with his wife Meggan and 4 children:  Gavin, Hannah, Natalie, and Amaya.  He is a graduate of Vicksburg High School and he holds an Associate’s Degree in Theology.  He works for Charles River Labs in Portage.

I had the privilege of working with his father, Dennis McGahan, a Fire Captain for the City of Portage.  I now have the privilege of working alongside Travis and watching him follow in his father’s footsteps.  If Travis becomes even half the fireman his father is, he will serve this community well.  In fact, Travis already has a few fires under his belt and has already demonstrated a cool, calm and collected demeanor – just like his father.

Please join me in congratulating Travis for completing the Fire Academy.

Steven Westcomb:

Steven Westcomb's father, Wendell Westcomb, did the honors during his pinning.

Steven Westcomb lives in the City of Three Rivers with his wife Susanne and 2 children:  Colton and Caiden.  He is a graduate of Three Rivers High School, and attended Southwestern Michigan College and the Word of Life Bible Institute.

Steve brings with him a building construction and industrial background and experience as a volunteer firefighter in Pottersville, New York.  He is currently enrolled in the paramedic program at Elkhart General Hospital.  Please join me in congratulating Steve for completing the Fire Academy.
