You’ll be able get a head start on your spring cleaning this coming weekend with a ‘FREECYCLE Day’ from 9 a.m. to 12 noon on Saturday (February 25th) at Business Success Unlimited (BSU), 7 North Main Street in downtown Three Rivers.
During an interview with the River Country Journal, BSU owner Nancy Becher said, “It’s a great opportunity for people to clean out their houses of items that are still very good and that have use, but you just don’t have use for them – and it’s a way of sharing what you have with others who might need exactly what it is you are trying to get rid of.” She noted that it’s also a good way to keep good items out of the landfills. What kinds of items are eligible for inclusion in the FREECYCLE Day? Appliances, furniture, clothes, toys, bicycles, musical instruments, computer equipment, tools and hardware, house and yard decorations, gardening tools, building materials, lawn mowers, vehicles and parts, scrap metal – “anything that has life left.”
Becher said, “If (it’s) a big item, we would prefer that you just bring in a picture with an address and a phone number so that if people see it and say, ‘Wow, that’s exactly what I’m looking for,’ they can go directly to you to get it.”
Items can be brought to BSU Saturday morning. Doors will open at 9. Obviously, the closer to that time that items arrive the better for maximum exposure during the event.
Becher said that anything left after the event is over will go to The Free Store.
Regarding FREECYCLE Day, Becher said, “It’s all free. You don’t charge for it and people don’t pay for it. It’s a great way of sharing community in that we’re all working together in offering and in giving.”
