St. Joseph County Clerk Pattie Bender reports the scheduling of a recount of votes cast for the Republican nomination for Florence Township Supervisor in the August 7th Primary Election.

Results from the balloting showed incumbent Supervisor Tom Young was narrowly defeated by challenger Gordon Evilsizor.

Out of 128 votes cast, Young received 62 (48.44 percent) compared to 65 for Evilsizor (50.78 percent).  There was one write-in vote (0.78 percent).

In a memo to the media regarding the recount, Bender said:

A petition for recount of the Florence Township Supervisor voted on at the August 7th election has been filed by Tom Young.  Mr. Young is requesting that the recount be conducted by hand.

The recount will take place on Friday, August 24, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. in the 2nd Floor Conference Room in the historic Courthouse in Centreville.
