The 22nd annual ‘Lights of Love’ fundraising project – conducted by the Three Rivers Health Auxiliary – will be highlighted by a tree lighting ceremony this coming Saturday (December 8) evening at the hospital.
According to Lights of Love Chairperson Diane Reece, all proceeds will be used to purchase new equipment for the laboratory at Three Rivers Health. The equipment consists of a Fisher scientific microscope, a table-top centrifuge, a draw chair (extra-wide and tall to accommodate patients with limited mobility), and updated statistical software.
Each donation of at least $3 given to the fund drive will result in a symbolic light being placed on the Lights of Love on the grounds of the hospital. Reece noted that two new trees and have been purchases this year and said, “This is a wonderful way of remembering a loved one or expressing appreciation for someone you care about.”
The tree lighting ceremony will be at 6:30 p.m. Saturday. The program will include music by The Silver Triad Flute Club. Lee Hohner will also play Christmas music.
This year will be the last one for Reece as chairperson. She and her husband, Ron, headed the committee for 10 years and she has continued for six years after his death. She says she has enjoyed working for the project and is grateful for the committee which has helped make her job easier. Reece said that, since she has moved away from the community – to Portage – she feels it is time for her job to end. She indicated she is looking forward to watching continued successful years for Lights of Love.
