Bid recommendations for the Mural Mall renovation project are a key item of business for the Three Rivers City Commission meeting Tuesday evening (December 18).
In addition to Mural Mall reconstruction, the project includes downtown street lighting improvements with the bulk of the project cost to be covered by a $750,000 Downtown Infrastructure Grant (DIG) from the Michigan Economic Development Corporation (MEDC).
Four bids were received and, as noted in a memo from Steven Bishop of Fleis & VandenBrink Engineering, Inc., “The low bidder for the project depends on which, if any, of the two alternates the City wishes to implement and if the City wishes to implement the Local Bidder Preference Policy.”
In the running for the project are Katerberg Verhage and Brussee/Brady, Inc. In his memo, Bishop said, “We have reviewed the references of both Katerberg Vehage and Brussee/Brady and feel they are both qualified and capable of completing a quality project on time. We recommend either of these bidders based on City preference of alternates.”
Other items of business for Tuesday’s meeting are two change orders, one for the Clean Water Plant improvement project, the other regarding a water systems improvement contract.
The meeting will get underway at 6 p.m. in the Commission Room at City Hall.
