(Cassopolis, MI) – The first winter storm of the season brought with it some extreme high winds, causing about 2500 power outages across Midwest Energy Cooperative’s southwest Michigan service territory. Transmission was lost to the Marcellus sub, accounting for nearly 1200 of those outages. The others are the result of line and other wind-related outages. Areas most impacted include Marcellus, Edwardsburg, Dowagiac, Cassopolis and Lawton. Crews have been dispatched for the distribution system issues, and cooperative officials are awaiting word from the transmission provider related to the substation.
Updated information about outages by zip code can be seen on the cooperative’s Outage Central site at http://ebill.teammidwest.com/oms/outageMap.
