Plans have been announced for the celebration of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day in Three Rivers on Monday, January 21st.
The observance – sponsored by Three Rivers Area Faith Community (TRAFC) and the local branch of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) – will begin with a march from City Hall to Riverside Church at 9 a.m. Participants are asked to meet at Riverside Church, 207 East Michigan Avenue, between 8:15 and 8:30 a.m. The St. Joseph County Transportation Authority (SJCTA) will transport marchers to City Hall in advance of the march.
A Youth Service will get underway at 10:15 a.m. and there will be a breakfast from 11 a.m. until 12 noon.
The special day will conclude with an evening service at 6 o’clock at New Jerusalem Baptist Church, 817 8th Street.
