The appointment of a new city clerk is an item of business for the Three Rivers City Commission meeting Tuesday evening (January 15th).
Current City Clerk Lindsay Howes has resigned, effective February 4th, to become the grant writer for St. Joseph County.
City Manager Joe Bippus is recommending the appointment of Melissa Bliss to be city clerk, effective February 5th, with a starting annual salary of $37,000 and authorization for him “to stipulate other conditions of employment for her.” Bliss is currently a city employee and – as noted by Bippus in a memo to the commission – “Lindsay has been training Melissa in all aspects of the City Clerk office.”
Other items of business for Tuesday’s meeting are:
- approval of an engineering contract with Fleis & VandenBrink in the amount of $68,700 for construction oversight of the ‘Mural Mall’ project and administration of the Downtown Infrastructure Grant (DIG) that is providing the bulk of funding for the improvements
- approval of easement agreements with American Electric Power in conjunction with the company’s project to upgrade electric lines in the Three Rivers area.
The meeting will get underway at 6 p.m. in the Commission Room at City Hall.
