(Three Rivers, MI) – On February 26, 2013, the America Cancer Society Relay For Life will officially get underway as cancer survivors, caregivers, families, schools, companies, faith-based and civic organizations gather at the Carnegie Center for the Arts for a kickoff event to launch their fundraising efforts for the year. The event will begin at 6:00 p.m.
Community members are invited to attend the kickoff event to learn more about the upcoming Relay For Life and how they can become part of an exciting overnight event that will pave the way to a world with less cancer and more birthdays. The theme of this year’s event is “Lights! Camera! Relay!” Teams are encouraged to decorate their campsite in the way that most exemplifies Hollywood to them.
In 2012, Relay For Life of Three Rivers raised more than $126,000 to help in the fight against cancer surpassing their goal of $100,000. This year’s goal is to raise more than $132,000.
Relay For Life participants and visitors have a chance to celebrate the victory of local cancer survivors during the Survivors Lap; remember those who are fighting cancer or those have lost their battle to the disease during the Luminaria Ceremony; and participate in the Fight Back Ceremony, which gives everyone a chance to proclaim his or her own way of taking action against the disease.
Community members can sign up their teams or make a donation to this local Relay For Life event by visiting RelayForLife.org/ThreeRiversMI.
The 2013 Relay For Life of Three Rivers will take place on June 21 & 22 at Three Rivers High School from noon to noon. For more information about the kickoff event or on how you can get involved, contact Event Chairperson, Danielle Rohrer, at email@example.com.
