The Walker Institute for the Study of Race and Ethnic Relations at Western Michigan University (WMU) will sponsor a fundraising dinner on Friday, March 15 in the Bernhard Center Ballroom at the university.
The evening event – from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. – will feature a tribute to Dr. Lewis Walker, WMU professor emeritus of sociology, who helped create the institute in 1990 and was the first African-American faculty member with a doctoral degree hired by WMU. The Walker Institute was named in his honor in 2000.
