The Intelligent Optimist, formerly known as Ode, presents some interesting insights on ‘sustainability’ and ‘smart communities’ from a somewhat different perspective in an article by Andre Tolve entitled “Knock on Wood”.

A brief item introducing the article says, “Legendary ‘rock ‘n’ roll’ keyboardist Chuck Leavell has a few ideas about how to help communities become smarter, stronger and more sustainable. For one, on Charlane Plantation, his 2,200-acre tree farm about 20 miles southeast of Macon, Georgia, he plants crops like milo and sorghum to provide deer, wild turkey and quail with the right ecosystem.”
