The St. Joseph County Board of Commissioners dealt with a light agenda Tuesday afternoon (March 5).
The board approved a three-year renewal of an agreement with Maximus Consulting Services, Inc. that allows the firm to do detail analysis on county cost for Friend of the Court and Juvenile associated with supporting and administering federal and state programs. The total cost of the contract is $11,500 with $8,000 for Friend of the Court and $3,000 for Juvenile.
Commissioners approved a request to fill a vacant Finance Accounting Clerk position. Finance Director Joni Smith requested permission to fill the vacant position in her office due to an employee transfer.
The board also gave the green light for AFLAC to offer its supplemental insurance plans to county employees through payroll deduction.
In nomination and appointment activity, the board:
- appointed Commissioner Rick Shaffer to the Lake Templene Board
- appointed David Hochstetler, Joe Bippus and Rob Olsen to the Building Authority Board
- and appointed Cathi Abbs and Emily Frohriep to the Animal Control Advisory Board.
Commissioners also scheduled a work session for 3 p.m. on Tuesday, March 26th for a presentation by 2 Fish Company, LLC with three different package levels for the board to review and determine a course of action. According to minutes of the Executive Committee meeting held on Friday (March 1), “The marketing project by 2 Fish Company, to advertise the St. Joseph County area, started in 2012, is complete.”
