‘Citation bars’ were presented to Captain Jeff Bloomfield, Lieutenant Troy Blackburn, Fireman Jason Chrisman and Fireman Chad Witt for a ‘CPR Field Save’ in January of 2013 when the TRFD responded to a medical emergency.  While preparing the patient for transport to Three Rivers Health, the patient went into cardiac arrest.  CPR was immediately initiated, and the patient’s pulse was restored.  The patient was later transferred to Borgess Hospital, and was recently discharged.

Blackburn and Witt, along with Lieutenant George Phillips and Fireman Nick Abbate, received citation bars for their Life Saving actions during an ice rescue in February 2013 on Pleasant Lake.  Rescuers arrived to find Robert Horvath of Elkhart, Indiana being held above water by civilians, Jeff and Josh Linn.  Mr. Horvath was successfully rescued within 12 minutes of the initial dispatch, then treated and released from the hospital.

Fireman Chad Witt also received a proclamation recognizing him for his “Act of Valor under extremely dangerous conditions on February 7, 2013” in the ice rescue of Mr. Horvath.
