The Three Rivers Police Department is investigating an incident late Thursday morning (April 4) involving fraud and eluding police.

According to a news release from the department, Three Rivers police were called to the Century Bank & Trust branch on West Broadway Street for a female subject trying to cash a forged check.  When the individual realized that she was under suspicion she fled in her white vehicle and led officers on a two-county chase ending in Vicksburg.  She fled from the Three Rivers bank branch onto US-131 where she turned north and entered Kalamazoo County.  She proceeded into Vicksburg where the vehicle was found abandoned.

Officers from the Three Rivers Police Department were assisted in the pursuit by the St. Joseph County Sheriff’s Department, Schoolcraft Police and Vicksburg police.

The suspect has not been apprehended at this time, but was under suspicion from cashing a forged check the previous day at the same bank.  She is also believed to have attempted this in Portage and, possibly, other locations.

Police are pursuing the investigation into this matter and will be seeking a warrant on the individual.  Due to this being an ongoing investigation, the name of the subject is being withheld.  Anyone who may have additional information is encouraged to contact the Three Rivers Police Department at (269) 278-1235.
