Weather concerns resulted in cancellation of the Main Stage entertainment and fireworks display that were planned for Saturday night (June 15) in Memory Isle Park as the finale for this year’s Three Rivers Water Festival.

In a Facebook announcement regarding the decision, Water Festival Chairperson Deb Herring said, “We are all disappointed that the concert and fireworks to end Water Festival 2013 have been cancelled. Please know that the festival committee, area logistics/safety departments, stage owner, band, and the fireworks company do not take such decision lightly. Forecasts, future weather conditions, safety plans, hazards (electric and water don’t mix, fireworks and damp air don’t mix) are all weighed and decisions made in the best interest of the community’s safety and the community’s enjoyment of a show, given the expenses involved and making the best use of our sponsors funding. Thank you for your support and understanding as we look to rescheduling later this summer.”

AllenAsTim and the Dance Hall Rockers had been slated to present a Tim McGraw tribute show in the park at 8:30 p.m. Saturday to be followed by the fireworks display.

The three-day celebration – Thursday through Saturday – was the 57th annual Three Rivers Water Festival, organized by the Three Rivers Area Chamber of Commerce and its Water Festival Committee.
