(Cassopolis, MI) – At 4:15 a.m. Wednesday morning about 750 Midwest Energy Cooperative members are without power. The majority of the outages are in the Three Rivers, Marcellus, Vicksburg and Cassopolis areas.
Crews first began battling outages Monday evening after a strong storm crossed southwest Michigan, leaving more than 6000 co-op members without power. With mutual aid help on Tuesday from three other Michigan utilities, outages were brought down to under 200 by late in the afternoon. However, a series of pop-up storms through the evening brought additional challenges, and by Midwest Tuesday, outages were back up to about 1100. Crews are finding a lot of downed wire, making the process very labor intensive, but worked through the night and are again making good progress. Midwest and mutual aid crews will continue efforts today.
Updated information about outages by zip code can be seen on the cooperative’s Outage Central site at http://ebill.teammidwest.com/oms/outageMap. The next update will be sent mid-morning Wednesday.
