Balk Road Bridge closed for replacement

The Balk Road Bridge crossing the Fawn River – located in Sturgis Township – will be closed to traffic beginning Tuesday (September 15th). The existing structure will be replaced with a concrete box beam bridge at an estimated cost of $375,000.

St. Joseph County’s unemployment rate increased in March to 15.3 percent, up from 14.4 percent in February and 14.9 percent in March 2009. Those are the numbers in the latest Labor Market Analysis for Southwest Michigan from the Michigan Department of Energy, Labor and Economic Growth and its Office of Labor Market Information.
